Retro/Grade Invades PlayStation Network August 21stAuthor: Ryan Winslett

Retro/Grade begins where most bullet-hell games end. You've just defeated the massive final boss using nothing more than your tiny space ship but, in doing so, the space/time continuum is being ripped apart. In order to repair the damage, you must now play the game backwards...And with a guitar controller.
You can actually use a normal controller if you want, but since Retro/Grade is equal parts shoot-em-up AND rhythm game, you might as well play it like a rock star. Think of Retro/Grade as Guitar Hero turned, quite literally, on its ear. Your ship is moving backwards in time and your job is to avoid the blasts of enemy fire while simultaneously “un-firing” your own bullets in time with a rocking retro soundtrack. So the playing field looks something like the standard Guitar Hero fret board, but turned sideways and overflowing with alien crafts and multi-colored plasma bullets. I assure you it's every bit as awesome as it sounds. Check it out... Pretty radical, right? 24 Caret Games co-founder Matt Gilgenbach recently visited the PlayStation Blog to announce Retro/Grade's official Aug. 21 release date. No price has yet been announced, but Gilgenbach did confirm that the soundtrack will be available on the same day as its own item or bundled with the game at a discounted price. Retro/Grade will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation Network. For more information, visit the game's official website. Back to top
