We’re already past the halfway mark in February and March is fast approaching with some pretty big gaming titles coming out in the third month of the year. Joining the ranks of other high profile releases in March is Namco Bandai’s PS One classic, Ridge Racer Type 4 for the PlayStation 3, which will allow gamers to experience some classic racing in HD via PSN.
As stated in the press release… The unique story-driven Grand Prix mode, jazz-influenced soundtrack and two-player split-screen racing were new additions for the series that set the benchmark for all future RIDGE RACER titles.By comparison to Gran Turismo 2 (which was out around the same time as Ridge Racer 4) I thoroughly preferred GT2 over Ridge Racer. Still, Namco’s arcade racer had a really weird, engrossing vibe about it, in a good way. It was hard to stop playing the game because it did introduce some nifty graphical enhancements at the time, and the statement about the jazzy soundtrack couldn’t be more true…the game had one of the very best racing soundtracks out at the time and a lot of newcomers to the genre will be able to experience that when the game goes live in March. Ridge Racer 4 will feature 48 unique cars with over 300 variations from four major car manufactures, eight courses and two styles of handling. The game will be available as a PS One classic this March. You can learn more by visiting the Official Website. |
