If you like the wireless microphones for Xbox 360 karaoke game Lips but wish you didn't have to play Lips to use them, you're in luck. Microsoft revealed today that Guitar Hero: Metallica and Rock Band 2 will be compatible with the wireless microphones soon.

A title update introducing the compatibility will be released for Guitar Hero: Metallica first. It's not clear when, though. Rock Band will get a similar update this summer. Microsoft's press release also promises that "additional titles that support the Lips microphones will available later this year, and only on Xbox 360." Maybe they're talking about The Beatles: Rock Band or the slew of other Guitar Hero games on the way.

Each copy of Lips comes with two wireless microphones. As far as we know, the microphones aren't sold separately.
