If you still haven't played sandbox action game Saints Row: The Third, you've got a golden opportunity this weekend. Steam is hosting a free-to-play weekend for SR3.
SR3 takes place years after the events of the previous game. The Third Street Saints have become a household name, with droves of merchandise bearing their name. This celebrity status has a price, though. They soon draw the ire of the Syndicate, a global crime organization. The game takes players to the all-new city of Steelport in a quest for revenge against the Syndicate. You'll engage in the usual Saints Row shenanigans in the process. For example, you can beat a pedestrian with a giant purple dildo, bodyslam a cop, or steal a hover bike. SR3 is basically Grand Theft Auto IV's wacky, drunken cousin. From now until Sunday at 1pm PST, interested players can jump into the game without paying a cent. You'll have unlimited access to all of the game's content. Once the free event is over, you'll need to buy the game to keep playing. Valve is making it really easy for you to hit the "purchase" button, too. From now until Monday at 10am PST, the game's being offered at a 66% discount. You have to pre-load the full game in order to play it during the free-play event so once you've paid for the game, you can jump right back in. Back to top
