Less than a day's worth of work is all Digitilus has left for their indie project, Skyjacker, a gritty space-combat simulator that's being marketed as a cross between Wing Commander and Grand Theft Auto.

The Kickstarter goal for Skyjacker is $200,000 and the team is sitting at $123,371 as of the writing of this article. They also only have less than six hours to go before the money is either all in or all gone. The money itself is basically to complete a game that already has some playable potential to its bones. To better clarify, you can check out the Kickstarter video for Skyjacker below, which is basically all about in-game play and actual space-simulated combat. Check it out.

The game is running pretty good and the play itself doesn't look half bad. One of the key features seems to be spaceship deconstruction, which is great for giving players visual feedback on the progress of a ship and just how much damage it's taking. The ship customization doesn't look half-bad either.

The actual brunt of the game resides in the seedy story that sees players working their way up the ranks of the criminal underbelly of galactic pirates, thieves, murderers and robbers. As showcased in the video above, the gameplay and story are about killing, robbing and taking, so you won't have to worry about a lot of escort and protect missions as is found in most other space-sims. What's more is that the premise of the game is centered around the series of books "Abyss Lights" by one of the game's designers, Eugene Zhukov. So the project is steeped in some sort of lore and it's not just fly-and-gun gameplay at all times.

It's unlikely that the game will meets its Kickstarter goal with more than $76,000 required to hit the marker. Nevertheless, there's always the possibility that someone could hop in and donate a couple of large sums to the project to get it Kickstarted.
