Skyrim Update 1.9 Hitting Xbox 360 And PS3 Today
Update 1.9 for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released on PC last month, is being rolled out to consoles today. The patch introduces new "legendary" features for the open-world RPG released back in November 2011.
Players can now choose a Legendary difficulty from the options menu. It should boost enemy damage considerably while also nerfing your own. The exact numbers haven't been announced, though.
Legendary skills are the equivalent of "prestiging" in a multiplayer shooter. Once you've capped out on a skill, you can designate it as legendary to reset its score to 15. While this makes you incompetent at that skill, it also gives you new opportunities to level up.
Bug fixes and balance tweaks are a huge component of the update as well. Random dragon attacks should be less common after you finish the campaign, and couriers will now be clothed. The full patch notes are here. There don't appear to be any fixes exclusive to the PS3 or 360 version.
Skyrim is an open-world RPG set in the wintry province of the same name. A civil war has broken out and dragons are roaming the land. The player, a condemned prisoner, will play a large role in these events. They can also freely wander the province and get themselves in all sorts of trouble. Read more about the game in our review.
