Sleeping Dogs Launch Trailer Invites You To Hong Kong

Next week Square Enix will release Sleeping Dogs on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. If you haven't heard of this open-world game yet, a new launch trailer provides a proper introduction.

Sleeping Dogs stars Wei Shen, a Hong Kong cop who goes undercover in a notorious Triad gang. Players will perform a variety of unsavory activities in order to earn the trust of the criminal organization. All te while, they'll gather information on the Triad operations and find ways to sabotage them.

Like Grand Theft Auto IV, Sleeping Dogs' gameplay features a mixture of driving and cover-based shooting. Dogs differs from many other sandbox games in its emphasis on hand-to-hand combat, though. Wei Shen can pummel foes with a long list of martial arts moves. He can also use objects in the environment, like refrigerator doors or circular saws, to finish off his opponents.

North America will get Dogs first on August 14th. The game will make its way to stores in Australia and Europe on the 16th and 17th, respectively.
