Sony Home Introduces An Events SpaceAuthor: Steve West

I’ve given up on Sony’s Home, and it’s likely you have as well. The ambitious project was supposed to be in at least a few of our hands by now and the what has resulted is my own conclusion that Sony needs to do a slick UI and slap it on the PS3 with the “interactive” features Home has promised. But rather than do something sensible they are continuing to work on the Second Life of the console world.
Sony has recently invited the lucky few beta testers into an all new location – which brings up the question of why the hell does this exist when the rest of the system isn’t anywhere near working yet – called “Media & Events Space.” Oh wow, you mean there’s a location I can go to in Home where I can be aggressively marketed to? I’m far more disappointed in where Home has gone since it was announced than can be conveyed with words. As soon as I’m done here I shall do the dance of great pain and sorrow. Sony says that the space can be used to host anything from game unveilings to fashion shows. Awesome. Revealing your game to the 10,000 people that might be in the area is a great idea…certainly better than revealing it on Kotaku, which only has a few million readers. And fashion shows? Well that’s the one thing in my gaming life I’ve been missing, I’m not sure about you. |
