Star Wars: Battlefront 3 will sadly never see the light of day. However, we're able to get a glimpse at the cancelled project through leaks. One gamer has released a one-hour gameplay video so we can see the large-scale action game for ourselves.
Battlefront 3, like its predecessor, pitted large armies of infantry and vehicles against each other in locations from the films. For example, this video shows battles at Cloud City and the volcanic planet of Mustafar. The player took on the role of anonymous units like storm troopers and battle droids, as well as well-known characters such as Boba Fett and Darth Maul.
The footage is pretty raw so it probably won't knock your socks off. Still, it's disheartening as a Battlefront fan to know that this game was actually playable by the time it was scrapped. We were close to actually getting our hands on it.
Battlefront 3 was being developed by TimeSplitters creators Free Radical. They had even started preliminary work on Battlefront 4 before both games were scrapped by LucasArts.
