Star Wars: The Old Republic Friends Trial Earns You Kurtob Speeder

BioWare wants your assistance in recruiting new players for Star Wars: The Old Republic. If you help out, you'll receive an exclusive in-game speeder for your troubles.

The Kurtob Alliance Speeder is a level 25, Artifact quality vehicle. It provides excellent protection from being knocked off, so you can ride through a pack of enemies with no worries. The speeder admittedly looks a lot better than the other vehicles already in the game, too. It reminds me a little of the pod racers from A Phantom Menace.

Active subscribers can send invites to up to 25 friends. Invited friends can play the first 15 levels of the game for as long as they want. They'll have access to all classes and all origin worlds.

Simply inviting a friend to play Old Republic isn't enough to earn the speeder, though. At least one of the people you invite must buy the game and then either pay for a monthly subscription or redeem a Game Time code.

Old Republic enjoyed a strong launch, racking up over a million subscribers within its opening days this past December. However, it was estimated in May that the player base had dropped from 1.7 million to 1.3 million. That's still a large amount of players but that sort of a drop this early in the game's life is no doubt worrisome to both EA and BioWare.
