You voted and Valve listened. A total of 13 new games have been upvoted from the Greenlight process to Steam-Store eligibility thanks to the community. In addition to this, six new software programs have also made the cut, bringing the total of greenlit software to 50 titles.
Alden Kroll of Valve commented in the press release saying...
"In just three months, the community has helped us identify 50 new titles for us to offer via Steam,". "With the help of Greenlight, the indie games market share of games sold on Steam has increased by 50 percent for a third consecutive year. That's a stat we are proud of, but one we also hope to increase as we learn more about Greenlight and continue to refine it in the new year."
That's some impressive motivation to keep the indie community thriving. A 50 percent increase year-over-year for the third straight year? Nice. The only problem is that we don't know what the actual increase is and how much of that 50 percent compares to standard AAA game releases. Oh Valve, you and your lovely vague numerical statistics.
Anyway, I'm excited because the recently successful crowd-funded game, StarForge is among the list of titles that have been greenlit. Amazing, right? The Halo + MineCraft game is officially funded and already guaranteed a spot on the Steam store. Totally excited. Also, other cool fan-favorites like Sang-Froid and cyberpunk adventure title Primordia have also made the cut, which is great news. And be sure to keep an eye on No Time To Explain, that game is absolutely epic and a great side-scroller that will totally be worth the purchase.
