Steam Trading Now Available For Gamers And Developers

published: 2011-09-06 14:46:25
So you want to trade some virtual goods with other players? Well, no problem, it’s now possible with Valve’s new Steam trading system, which devs can use to bring users awesome new content and gamers can use to trade that awesome content with other gamers.

Jason Holtman, director of business development commented in the press release, saying…
"The addition of Steam Trading is the latest example of how Steam continues to evolve with new features and functions developed based upon feedback," ... "We look forward to seeing how gamers and developers have fun and move this functionality forward."

Originally the Steam Trading started with Valve’s own titles, such as Team Fortress 2, allowing gamers to trade in-game gifts and items with one another via the Steam platform, and now the free-to-play title from Sega has joined the ranks, allowing gamers to trade items and goods in Spiral Knights. Portal 2 will join in on the fray soon, followed by other popular titles. During the beta more than one million items and game gifts were traded amongst gamers, making the service very popular indeed. Valve will also be adding the Steam Trading feature to the Steamworks SDK for any future game that makes use of the Steamworks features.
