Strikefleet Omega Sets A Course For Mobile

Strikefleet Omega is set to hit the mobile scene on June 21 and, while not boasting the most original name in gaming history, strategy fans will likely want to take note of this free-to-play title from publisher 6waves.

Developed by Harebrained Schemes, the folks behind the original Shadowrun and Crimson: Steam Pirates (as well as the recently Kickstarted rendition of Shadowrun Returns), Strikefleet Omega puts players in command of the EEF Retribution and her fleet of space ships. The object of the game is to keep the Retribution safe by swiping your finger to determine attack paths for your more agile ships. On the sidelines, you’ll be managing mining and resources, keeping your fleet moving across the galaxy while fending off the Hive Queen and her evil minions.

Again, not the most original setup, but it sure sounds like a good time. Strikefleet Omega boasts more than 40 campaign levels, a Survival Mode that features enemies not seen in the regular game, a dozen different ships and boatloads of upgrades to manage, as well as 20 enemy types to master.

Strikefleet Omega will be available for the iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android devices this Thursday, June 21st. It will be available for download at the whopping cost of $0 via the iTunes App Store, Google Play and Amazon. Yep, there's no reason to worry about stretching your wallet on this bad boy.
