Namco Bandai has sent out a flood of screenshots for Tales of Xillia 2, the fourteenth entry in their long-running Tales role-playing game series. We Westerners won't get our hands on this game for a very long time but it doesn't hurt to check out the images anyway. Try not to fall in love, though.
Xillia 2's combat features a new Cross Double Raid Linear Motion Battle System. Yes, they managed to devise a name more complicated than "Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System," which was used in the first Xillia. The Cross Double Blah Blah system enables characters to easily swap abilities on the fly. For example, one character can switch between his dual guns, dual swords and hammer in the middle of combat. The game's dialogue is a bit more active than in previous installments. Players will now be able to choose from different conversation options at select moments. It's just one example of a wider emphasis on player choice in this title. Namco Bandai will release Xillia 2 in Japan on November 1st. North America and Europe haven't even gotten the first Xillia yet; it'll finally arrive here in 2013. Presumably we'll receive the sequel as well if the first game sells well enough in the Western regions. Back to top
