The Walking Dead developer Telltale Games' next adventure game is now available for pre-order through Steam and the company's website. "Faith," the first episode The Wolf Among Us, is expected later this month.
Wolf Among Us is based on the comic book series Fables. The game is a prequel to the events of the comic books to make it friendly to series newcomers. It depicts a world in which fairy tale characters live in the real world. These people, known as "Fables," were exiled from their world by a mysterious villain. They now live in New York City and try to avoid any unwanted attention.
Bigby Wolf, formerly known as the Big Bad Wolf, is the sheriff of Fabletown. It's his job to keep order among the Fables and also ensure that the wider world doesn't take notice of them. In Wolf Among Us, he'll investigate a string of crimes starting with a brutal murder.
The game's storyline will play out over five episodes that Telltale will release one at a time. Like Telltale's The Walking Dead game, Wolf places heavy emphasis on player choice. Your decisions will determine the direction of the story.
"Now, it’s not only WHAT you choose to do that will affect your story, but WHEN you choose to do it," reads the game's Steam description.
Wolf Among Us's full season will cost $24.99 to download. You can knock 10% off that price by pre-ordering, though. If you decide to order through Telltale's website, they'll also send you a DVD with all five episodes at the end of the season. All you'll have to pay for the DVD is shipping and handling.
Though the pre-order deals are only available for PC and Mac, Telltale plans to release Wolf on Xbox 360 and PS3 as well. No word yet on whether we should expect the game to hit consoles in October as well, though.
