The Game Conference Game Re-Released For Child's Play Charity

This could be considered a little off-beat from the news we usually cover, but it seemed like something noteworthy. A group called the Internet Superstars created a game back in 1976 called "The Game Conference Game". Many thought the game was lost for good due to its corrupted format. However, just recently it was recovered and the proceeds are being donated to a children's organization.
It's tough cracking jokes about charity and history related gaming events that have happy endings. But I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't try. Anyway, this whole thing started back in 1976 when a game about a person's quest to get a job in the gaming industry made its way onto the PDP-10, and later the PC and Commodore 64. It was called The Game Conference Game. Odd game, eh? Well, the game was used on a disk format that went bad and everyone thought the game was lost. Several gaming generations later and some people have actually found working copies of The Game Conference Game. And I might add that the title has to be one of the worst ever created...probably as bad as Duke Screw'em. Nevertheless, the game's revival now comes in the software medium of Macromedia Flash. This means that The Game Conference Game is now fully playable and free-to-play on any and everyones' browser, corruption free. Chris Best, Lead Excavator, said "We decided on Flash so that gamers everywhere could enjoy this classic. [The Game Conference Game] has been hailed as a serious game version of rogue" and added, "donating everything to Child's Play has made what we've done here much more important."
