The Mummy Movie Set To Become Action MMO
BigPoint Software announced that – for better or for worse – The Mummy movie series will be turned into an action-oriented, browser-based MMO. I have no idea how they’re going to manage a quality product out of this venture, but you have to admit that just like myself, you’re probably curious how it’s going to turn out.
Heiko Hubertz, CEO and founder of Bigpoint commented in the press release, saying…
"We are excited to adapt this popular film franchise for the global online games market," …. "By leveraging our mastery of browser-based games technology and Universal Pictures’ popular entertainment property, Bigpoint is quickly becoming one of the leading publishers of licensed games."It’s planned to be an action-adventure MMO that takes players around the globe to uncover ancient artifacts while battling the forces of the undead. Unfortunately, no screenshots came with the press release. However, the game will be running on the Unity Engine, which supports real-time 3D in browser-based environments.
So this could either be like the highly praised and truly original, Guns of Icarus, or it could be another RuneScape. Only time will tell.
The game is set for a winter, 2010 release. For more info on BigPoint and The Mummy be sure to visit the Official Website.
