Last weekend Sega asked gamers what Sega Genesis title they'd like to see re-released on Xbox Live Arcade. The votes are in and the winner is ToeJam & Earl.

ToeJam & Earl, first released in 1991, stars two aliens (three-legged ToeJam and corpulent Earl) who crash-land on Earth. They need to search our world for the pieces to their spaceship so they can get back to their planet of...Funkotron. Yep, it gets weird.

Earth, however, is a dangerous place and they'll need to have to evade giant hamsters, man-eating mailboxes, and "nerd herds." Strewn throughout the levels are gift boxes with power-ups such as rocket skates. The game can be played solo or with another player via split-screen.

Sega's fan poll is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Genesis. It's worth pointing out that Toejam & Earl actually came in second place in the poll. Gameloft announced earlier this week that they had grabbed the publishing and development rights to the true winner, Earthworm Jim.
