UFC Undisputed 2010: Fighting Techniques Video Keeps It SimpleAuthor: William Usher

A lot of MMA fans really got into THQ’s UFC Undisputed 2009, easily making it a top selling game of 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It was inevitable for a sequel to rear its head and as the second game in the newly re-launched UFC gaming franchise, a bigger focus has been put on the fighting techniques featured in the game.
The brief video gives an overview of what fighting styles will be making the cut in this year’s UFC game outing and some of the styles include Muay Thai, Karate, Brazilian Jujitsu and Free-Style Wrestling. In other words, all the rule-stringent fighting styles that fit into UFC’s predictable ground-based fighting scheme and blatantly generic stand-up setup will be making an appearance in the game. It’s sad that real martial arts aren’t featured in the game, sort of like in the early years of the Ultimate Fighting Championship where high-dan black belts from respectable martial arts disciplines used to showcase chakra and pressure point techniques. That’s when the UFC was for real fighters. But since all the dangerous stuff has been banned in place of street-fighting fanboys and NCAA wrestling graduates, it was only common-place for the game to follow suit. Maybe in UFC Undisputed: 2011 they’ll add in Hapkido or Shokun just to mix things up a bit. Anyway, you can check out the new video below or visit the Official Website for more information. The game is due out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 25th. |
