At this point, it's probably safe to assume that we've all had our fill of modern warfare. Medieval warfare, though? Well, that's an entirely different story. War of the Roses, the third-person action strategy, is finally ready to catapult players into the 15th century English civil war, trading kevlar vests and SMGs for sturdy horses and vollies of arrows.
War of the Roses has been through quite the development process, which can be viewed in a series of behind the scenes videos highlighting the various moving pieces that had to come together for this unique team-based warfare game to take off. Loosely based on real history, the English king has fallen, leaving no true heir to take his place. As a result, the two most powerful forces in the country are now waging war to determine who will become the next ruler. Think Game of Thrones, but with about a tenth of the armies and way, way less sex. If you're really, really excited about the release of War of the Roses, then you can tune in for a special live stream countdown to the game's launch featuring Senior Producer Gordon Van Dyke and Co. at 5 p.m. GMT today by heading on over to Twitch TV. War of the Roses goes for $29.99 and can be picked up pretty much anywhere games are sold. You can get even more info about the game, as well as handy links to all of the game's retailers including Steam and Amazon, by heading to the War of the Roses official website. Otherwise, the game officially launches in just a few hours. To prepare, you can spend that time investigating this snazzy little War of the Roses player guide. It's war, man. You've gotta grab every advantage that comes your way. Back to top
