If you wanted to test your medieval mettle in a gritty, no-holds-barred PvP game that pits wit versus brawn and twitch-skills versus cahones, then you'll probably want to play Paradox Interactive and Fatshark Studios' latest title, War of the Roses, which has just entered beta testing for the public.
At this year's GamesCom, Paradox Interactive made the announcement that War of the Roses has officially entered beta testing.
Gordon Van Dyke, Senior Producer for War of the Roses commented in the press release, saying...
"It's a real testament to the hard work that Fatshark has put into the game, that over 100,000 people have signed up for the Beta," ... "The level of enthusiasm that people have had to start playing has been incredible, and we can't wait to hear what they think once they're actually in the game. Our goal right now is to make sure every last person who signed up gets into the beta, but forging 100,000 swords takes a while. We'll be letting folks in, following the priority order we've set, and I'll see every last one of you on the battlefield!"
While you wait for your beta registration to go through, feel free to take a snappy behind-the-scenes look with the latest episode from Paradox Interactive with the new dev diary below.
I like that this game really focuses on the hardcore back-and-forth aspects of combat, it's a rarity in a lot of games these days that seem to focus on twitch-skills for the quick-kill, but it's rare that a game wants you to get into the nitty-gritty of the combat and actually utilize skill to and tactics to takedown a foe. That's some good stuff.
Paradox also announced that gamers can actually pre-order the game starting next week on August 20th. So if you know for sure that this is a game that you want, you can go ahead and start your pre-order for War of the Roses.
Those of you interested in participating in the beta, feel free to pay a visit to the Official Website.
