The War Z Receives 7 Minute Gameplay Video Of Nothing Happening

If the headline didn't scare you away then be prepared to witness seven minutes of gameplay where only within the last 30 seconds or so does a zombie appear. Now last time I ragged on The War Z it was because it was a dev video showing off improvements and whatnot and I thought it was a newb being a noob. This time, however, I'm not sure what the story is but maybe you can figure it out.

I imagine that this was a test video for the weapon attachments, range testing and inventory management. If it wasn't a dev test video, then I have no idea what was going on. The video comes courtesy of IGN and has no excitement going on for it whatsoever. Check it out below.



The comments for the video were not kind at all. One of my favorites was from a James Spalding who says, “Killing floor, L4d, DeadIsland, DayZ, Resident evil all mashed up into an abortion.”

The major complaint from most of the community has been the inorganic feel of the gameplay. While the video states that it's supposed to be “gameplay” it feels and plays like a tech demo. There are no “organic” zombie encounters and the shooting seems to be showcasing the weapon mechanics and not necessarily someone just goofing around to be goofing around. Without commentary it definitely leaves the guesswork on the end of the viewer.

If there's one good thing that has come out of this seven minute video is that at least gamers are talking about the game in an honest way. We'll see if this helps or hinders development as the team continues to make progress on The War Z.
