Warframe Alpha Gameplay Footage Is Flatout Awesome

A very brief teaser trailer was released for the upcoming free-to-play, third-person, co-op shooter title from Digital Extremes. The new trailer shows off some brief gameplay footage of the ancient warframe biosuits in action and by all means the game looks like an amazing shooter experience.

A lot of parallels have been made between Warframe and Digital Extremes' original vision of Dark Sector, another third-person action title that fared moderately on home consoles but didn't break any trends. After watching this latest trailer, it really does look like Warframe may be a more stylized, sleek take on the Dark Sector concept and done much, much better.

The suit designs really do remind me of The Guyver, which is totally a cool thing considering that most mecha-suit designs these days seem to be mirrored after Crytek's Nanosuit in the Crysis series or Master Chief's Robocop-esque body armor. I also really love the design aesthetics, it looks so freaking sleek and has a bit of an organic, bio-technical theme for both the bad guys and the warframes.

The brief melee tidbits reminds me a bit of Platinum Games' upcoming take on Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance, which will be interesting to see how it works in a PvP type environment.

The game is scheduled to be a free-to-play shooter and Digital Extremes knows their multiplayer inside and out as they've been doing it for years, so this is definitely one of the few games you'll want to keep your eyes on come release time.
