DLC is like a love hate relationship with gamers. We know it's our weakness when it's something cool (i.e., Ballad of Gay Tony, Undead Nightmare, Borderlands' DLC, etc,.) and we also know it's something we abhor when it's done poorly or as a cash grab (i.e., From Ashes, Saints Row: The Third). In the case of Way of the Samurai 4 there is a number of content packs made available for PS3 gamers ranging from $0.99 to $4.99 and it seems to fit the former category of DLC.
As stated in the press release...
Headlining the DLC, "Where Are They Now?" ($4.99) will add a new mission and unlock characters who may be familiar to fans of the series, as the heroes of previous installments (Dona Dona and Sayo from Way of the Samurai and Way of the Samurai 2, respectively) will enter the battlefield as playable characters with custom gear.
Additional DLC includes a $4.99 mission that requires players to complete a special mission that adds a legendary Shinsengumi member to your group, while other DLC weapon packs enable you to craft your own weapons and acquire new skills, both available for $0.99. The final DLC is available for $2.99 and includes three rare weapon packs.
Given that DLC descriptions are difficult to determine if they're worth the price of entry or not, it's probably best to survey the DLC thoroughly before making the digital plunge. You can pick up or look over the new DLC for Way of the Samurai 4 on the PlayStation Network right now.
