A mobile Korean MMO publisher wants to become the number one gaming company in the world, and they plan to do so by first making their stamp at this year's E3 tradeshow by unveiling eight brand new games for mobile devices.
CEO of WeMade, Namgung Hun, stated in the press release that... “We will aim to become the No. 1 global game company, starting with E3. Combining WeMade’s core competency and experience, we believe our mobile game lineup will bring unforeseen changes in the industry throughout the globe.” Eh, right. They see themselves competing with the core console market due to the games they have lined up for mobile devices. The list of games they have planned to showcase will supposedly "Wow" audiences enough to want to drop a controller and pick up a mobile gaming device instead. It's a little hard for me to imagine a mobile game that offers the same kind of responsiveness as a game controller, and that's not to mention that there are just some key control-preferences missing from mobile phones and tablets to make them competent enough to offer the same kind of control-related functionality as a console game. In essence, if key components that help make a game fun on console (due to controls alone) are missing from a mobile game, it's going to be tough trying to sell the console crowd on giving up gaming on their big machines for the latest iPhone, iPad, Android or tablet. Anyways, WeMade plans to unveil Chaos & Defense as well as Viking Island to spearhead their line-up of eight live titles at this year's E3 convention. There will be a total of 20 new mobile and social games in the works at the company that will eventually release throughout this year. For those of you who never heard of WeMade, the company is best known for Legends of Mir 2 and Rumble Fighters. It's hard to imagine that they could compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo for the same demographic market share but I guess time will tell.
