Nintendo is set to push out a lot of games during the Wii U launch window but, of course, the Wii U’s “launch window” is scheduled for the period of time spanning Nov. 18 and March 31 of next year. Even if a nearly five-month launch window is a bit silly, at least the Big N is at least promising 23 games the very day the console hits store shelves.
Here’s the trick with spin: We don’t know the nature of these games. Some of them might be Wii U titles re-released in HD. Others might be smaller games available on the eShop. Then again, they might all very well be brand new titles releasing on disc the day the Wii U drops. Either way, Nintendo is billing Nov. 18 as “the largest launch-day video game lineup in its history.” “We’re making sure that Wii U owners will have great games to play from the moment they open the box, and that a steady stream of fun new games is always on the way,” said Nintendo of America’s president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime. “We have something for everyone, from new franchises to creative new approaches to familiar favorites.” As a reminder, the Wii U will be available in a $299.99 Basic Set that offers a white console and eight gigabytes of storage and a $349.99 Deluxe Set that offers a black console, a console stand, a controller charging dock, 32 GB of storage and a copy of the Nintendo Land game. While the complete list of launch day titles has not been revealed, the following titles have been identified as part of the lineup: Nintendo Land New Super Mario Bros. U SiNG PARTY Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge ZombieU Call of Duty: Black Ops II Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two FIFA Soccer 13 Scribblenauts Unlimited. Back to top
