If you’re an experienced Pokemon trainer, then you know that catching ‘em all is only half of the excitement. The other half comes in the form of battles and, with the announcement of the Pokemon World Tournament in Pokemon Black and White Version 2, you’ll be able to relive some of the best battles in Poke-history while creating epic new memories at the same time.
Pokemon Black and White Version 2 are set to release on Oct. 12 for both the Nintendo 3DS and plain old normal DS. Players will return to the Unova Region two years following the adventures of the previous game in order to take part in a brand new adventure that has you visiting towns, exploring the wilds, catching new Pokemon and battling them with anyone silly enough to challenge you to a duel.
These latest Poke-games will be enhanced by the new Pokemon World Tournament, though, which includes two new ways to play your favorite not-quite-cruelty-to-animals games.
First up, you’ll be able to compete against classic gym leaders in the new arena, reliving battles against the likes of Lance, Champion from the Johto Region, and Volkner, Gym Leader of the Sinnoh Region.
If you prefer to keep the battles fresh, however, a new battle format will allow players to jump into an elimination tournament featuring single, double, triple and rotational battles utilizing the WiFi connection. Special events will also be held allowing players to compete against the top players/teams from the recent 2012 Pokemon Video Game World Championships.
