World Of Warcraft Offering Free Server Transfers This Week

World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Mists of Pandaria, went live this week and some servers are experiencing overcrowding. Blizzard is offering players free transfers off to lower population servers to off-set these problems.

The free transfers are only being offered to members of certain high-population realms. Furthermore, you can only transfer to the single destination realm that they've chosen. Here's a breakdown of the transfers being offered:

• Frostmourne (Oceanic PvP) ---> Gundrak (Oceanic PvP)
• Illidan (Central PvP) ---> Mug’thol (Central PvP)
• Kil’jaeden (Pacific PvP) ---> Frostwolf (Pacific PvP)
• Area 52 (Eastern PvE) ---> Velen (Mountain PvE)
• Darkspear (Mountain PvP) ---> Bloodscalp (Mountain PvP)
• Tichondrius (Pacific PvP) ---> Dark Iron (Pacific PvP)
• Stormrage (Eastern PvE) ---> Trollbane (Eastern PvE)
• Kel’Thuzad (Eastern PvP) ---> Alterac Mountains (Eastern PvP)

These transfers will be available until October 4th at 9 am PDT. Blizzard reserves the right to stop transfers at any time, particularly if the destination realm becomes too full. This list is also subject to change. For example, in a follow-up post, Blizzard said that they were going to change the destination for Area 52 players to an Eastern time zone server.

Blizzard isn't offering free guild transfers. Your guild master will still have to pay for that process. If your whole guild is planning to move over, make sure that your GM transfers the guild first in order to keep your guild membership and reputatin.

Also, if you're not a hardcore player, it might not be a bad idea just to hang tight for now. Pandaria just launched two days ago so server activity is unusually high across the board. That'll calm down once people finish their race to level 90 and stop playing non-stop. Queue times could be much shorter, or nonexistent, by this time next week.
