The upcoming WWE 13 from THQ and Yukes is already picking up quite a bit of steam. A lot of gamers can’t wait to play it, especially with the Attitude era making a return. However, it’s not all peaches and cream for the design team and the lead designer explains why.
Captain Starball News picked up on a tweet from WWE ‘13 designer Bryan Williams, where he answers a fan’s question about the most difficult part of working on a game based on the WWE universe. Williams kept his answer short and sweet, responding with the following statement… "Keeping current with the WWE. Things change so frequently during production of the game. Definitely frustrating." This has always been an issue with the night time male soap-opera and trying to base games on said soap opera. Storylines in WWE are volatile and can change on a whim, that’s not to mention that due to injuries, hirings and firings that some chap who seems like the next big thing could be gone faster than Brock can get knocked out by an MMA pugilist. Most fans are accepting that WWE games don’t entirely keep up with what’s going on in the WWE universe, and the fact that THQ and Yukes actually have a Universe mode in the game helps a ton with allowing users to modify storylines and in-game allies and enemies to suit the current programming on TV. The added custom character or CAW works well to facilitate wrestlers who didn’t make the official roster either. WWE ‘13 is shaping up to be THQ’s biggest WWE outing despite the company’s financial woes. The game is scheduled to release on October 30th for most major home consoles. Back to top
