Monolith Soft, the developers of Wii RPG Xenoblade, will be supporting Nintendo's next console as well. During their press conference today, Nintendo revealed that the studio is making a Wii U game.
Xenoblade was an open-world RPG first released in 2010 in Japan. It made its way to Europe in 2011 and North America this year as Xenoblade Chronicles. The game was roundly praised for pushing the Wii's visual capabilities and introducing many modernizations to the JRPG genre.
Monolith Soft's support for the Wii U isn't so surprising. Nintendo actually owns them. Namco Bandai sold the studio to them a few years back.
Nintendo didn't provide any concrete details about what game the studio is making. They were mentioned in passing, with one presentation slide:
Fans expecting a Xenoblade sequel will be disappointed. All we know so far is that their game won't be based on any existing series. That rules out any Xenosaga projects as well
