Medal of Honor: Warfighter is said to be inspired by real special ops missions taking place across the globe. However, it won't depict one of the most famous U.S. special forces missions ever.

Warfighter executive producer Greg Goodrich told OXM (via GamesThirst) that the game won't let players kill Osama Bin Laden.

"That’s not our story to tell," said Goodrich. "That’s family business to the Tier 1 Operators."

He added: "It’s been an interesting exercise learning what’s okay and what’s not okay [to portray in the game].”

Warfighter's campaign has been written by active Tier 1 Operators deployed overseas. Players will step into the role of these special forces units and track down a global threat. The threat is said to be "inspired by real enemies," so I assume they're trying to maintain some distance between the game and reality. That should give them some creative freedom.

Danger Close Games plans to release Warfighter on October 23rd.
