ZombiU Screenshots Showcase Wii U's Amazing Graphics CapabilitiesAuthor: William Usher

Ubisoft released some new screenshots for the upcoming first-person surviva-apocalypse game, ZombiU. The game has already been pegged as the sleeper hit of the upcoming holiday season and the new screenshots for the game showcase why even if you're not keen on the gameplay the astounding graphical detail (for a Nintendo game, anyway) is enough to make you glance twice. The use of depth of field, deferred lighting, fog effects and self-shadowing help bring the game to life like few titles on a Nintendo home console. It's a real step up from the previous stuff we've seen since the age of the N64.
The main thing about ZombiU that really makes it stand out is that it has such a distinct, almost CGI-feel to its gameplay and visual aesthetic. This is a perfect way to engross players as if they're actually there. Reprimanding the HUD to the Wii U's GamePad was also a brilliant move by Ubisoft, as it limits the amount of on-screen distractions and has players focusing solely on survival and what's happening right in front of them. Another key aspect that makes ZombiU a real standout title is the weapon mechanics. Guns and ammo are sparse, so players will have to make do with whatever they can find. The thing is, this game takes elements from Condemned: Criminal Origins and older Resident Evil games where it's headshots or bust. This adds a whole other level of intensity when you have several zombies chasing you and you're desperately trying to fight them off with a simple cricket paddle. Good luck with that. ZombiU will probably steal the spotlight as the Wii U's preferred launch title this November.
