It’s official. Coldplay are the best act in the world. At least according to England’s Q Awards they are. The British band took home the prize for that honor, as one of two awards they won at London’s Q Awards this past Monday. Coldplay also won best album honors for their worldwide chart topper Viva La Vida (or Death and All His Friends), which was released earlier this year. Next up for Coldplay? A new EP called Prospekt's March coming out in November ... read more |

It is true that some bands, rather than waste time and money on hunting down new clothes, may sit and repair/modify their old ones, but I’m taking the standpoint that Coldplay is not allowed to do this, because they’re already too post-modern pretty, and they’re going to turn into gurgling, honey-soaked Care Bears if this continues ... read more |

I was completely bewildered when, during the 3/4-set arrival of “Plush,” a nearby group of sorority chicks suddenly got all antsy, huddling together in a secret conversation until one of them finally turned to the people next to them and said, “Oh my god, what’s this song called?" ... read more |

They’ve moved in some direction, as we might have guessed they would, but no one will likely be surprised by anything. With the self-destructive state of the music business steadily continuing on its downward spiral, it seems the fledgling EMI Music Group has turned back the hands of time for profit. No, CDs aren’t climbing up the sale’s scale again just yet – despite my white-knuckling the over 300 alphabetized collection awaiting in my racks. It’s seems vinyl records are making a comeback. ... read more |

Chris Martin, the sensitive, enlightened soul who occasionally breaks faces in bars, has announced a string of dates he and his somehow controversial band are playing on an upcoming tour to promote the release of Viva La Vida. I say “somehow controversial” because there’s no real reason why people complain about Coldplay ... read more |

I know I complained about how every band who did anything music-related for free since October’s In Rainbows was being compared to Radiohead. Now that Coldplay however, is caught dead-square in the monotonous drivel for playing two free shows and releasing one of their singles on the house to gear up for their new album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends ... read more |

Having run out of ways to describe their shitty, overly emotional piano noise, Coldplay has turned to a foreign language, desperate to find the perfect title for their new album. Viva La Vida, meaning “Live The Life” or “Emo Piano Chord” depending on translation, will hit stores on June 17th, thanks to their friends over at Capitol Records ... read more |
