Although 81-year-old blues maestro B.B. King may be getting up there in years, he’s not ready to say goodbye to the world just yet.
When he was admitted into a Galveston, Texas, hospital this week after being struck by a high fever following a bout of the flu, it was a scary day for blues fans everywhere. But it looks like our intense finger-crossing and well-wishing have panned out: He was discharged Saturday and, according to a spokeswoman for his management company, is “back to his old self.”
That was a close call. Brilliant director Robert Altman passed away last year at the age of 81, so thoughts of morose coincidences were hard to banish.
But all that is in the past now. According to Yahoo! Music, King still plans to perform Tuesday in Fort Worth and will reschedule the concerts that he had to postpone due to illness (in Galveston, Orange and Tyler) for sometime in June.
What better way to enjoy the summer than to witness a blues legend still work his magic with a guitar? Keep rockin’, B.B. Good to have you back.
