Beyoncé’s B’Phone Unveiled
What do YOU want for your b-day? How about a new B’Phone? Yesterday morning, Samsung unveiled their new, Beyoncé-inspired cell phone. I know what you’re thinking: “Are you kidding?” Oh, how I wish I was.

According to Billboard.com the Samsung limited edition B'Phone, a Beyoncé -branded version of the UpStage music phone originally introduced earlier this year, was revealed Thursday morning at the Samsung store in New York's Time Warner Building.

The device features gold and burgundy colors designed by Beyoncé (because those colors didn’t exist before), a Beyoncé-themed startup screen and the ability to download exclusive Beyoncé photos, videos and a song she recorded as a youngster.

“When I was 10, I recorded a song called '632-5792'—a phone number. It's a little embarrassing but it's cute. There's a recording of that song on the phone exclusively for my fans,” Beyoncé told journalists. “I wanted to make sure people got a feel for who I really am. It's only through this phone that you can get this close to my life.”

This is what we all strive for, naturally. It’s cute that her fans will get to “feel close” to her. I guess equipping every phone with Beyoncé’s personal phone number was too much to ask.

“Beyoncé is a global superstar,” music mogul Steve Stoute told Billboard.com. “Her fans love music, they love pictures and they love talking. A phone is a natural extension for Beyoncé. It's about working products that her fans like to indulge in.”

So in other words, it’s about working her fans, profiting from their inability to resist anything to do with the pop star. Anyone feeling like a puppet yet?

The B'Phone also showcases a dual-sided design, with an MP3 player on one side and a phone on the other. In addition, it provides easy access to Sprint's multimedia content, including Sprint TV and the Sprint Music Store.

Personally, I can’t wait until Beyoncé’s popularity stops yielding such “technological advances” like the B’Phone. Am I bitter? No. I actually used to like Beyoncé before her musicianship became clouded by all the commodities available to the Beyoncé-hungry world. I guess she can’t be blamed, though. The man is sucking everything he can get out of her, milking her dry; not to boost her image, of course, but to gain profit for himself. I just hope there’s some of her left after she’s been kicked to the curb when he falls in love with a new competitor.
