Billy Joel Shuts Down Shea Stadium
Joining an all-star lineup of The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Pope John Paul II, Billy Joel will pay a final salute to legendary concerts at Shea Stadium in Queens, NY on July 16. The piano man will be the last artist to ever play the venue, home to the New York Mets baseball team. The show takes place during the team’s final season before moving to the Citi Field next year, according to Billboard.

Billed as “The Last Play at Shea, From The Beatles to Billy” the performance puts the Long Island native as being the only musician to play both of New York’s famed baseball stadiums. Joel played Yankee Stadium, you know - where that other team plays, in 1991. He also holds the record for selling out 12 consecutive shows at Madison Square Garden in 2006.

Tickets go on sale February 16 through the vileness that is Ticketmaster. Hopefully Joel will leave Queens some more successful memories than their baseball team has.
