Bob Dylan Joins Itunes and 21st Century

published: 2006-08-09 00:00:00
Bob Dylan, the impassioned musical icon of the 1960s, still thrives in 2006. He has just completed his new album Modern Times, which is set for release on August 29 by Columbia. According to MSN, Dylan has made a deal with Apple’s itunes to grant fans, who pre-order his new album, a chance to snag early tickets to his fall shows. Fans who take advantage of the offer will receive a presale code a week before the general public.

Itunes is releasing a version of Modern Times with five videos: “Love Sick”, “Blood In My Eyes”, “Cold Irons Bound”, “Things Have Changed” and “Jokerman.” On top of all that, Apple has created a fully loaded digital boxed set called “The Collection,” which features every song from his studio albums, 42 rare tracks, and an inside digital booklet. The set, along with Modern Times, will be available August 29th for the low, low price of $199.

Isn’t it great to see that certain artists will not sell out no matter what? This Saturday, Dylan will kick off his third annual tour of minor league baseball stadiums in Comstock Park, Michigan. In addition, he will continue to convey to new generations the all-important message that, “everybody must get stoned.”
