It seems all those hopeful for Brit’s second shot at a comeback will have to just wait until her next album. According to sources at Starpluse.com, the former pop princess’ manager, Larry Rudolph has confirmed with a great deal of fervour, as it were, that, quote, “Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and unequivocally.”
A bummer for those who actually give a damn, but still a bit puzzling. The rumours of Ms. Spears’ second shot at winning back her audience started swirling when her hairstylist, Kim Vo mentioned on E! News that she was creating some new styles for the diva for her upcoming performance at the VMA’s. However, the refutation of Rudolph on LA radio personality, Ryan Seacrest’s, broadcast has definitely set the record straight. Though, fans shouldn’t be discouraged. The sudden recant of performance rumours doesn’t in any way mean that Brit is in anymore trouble. In fact, quite the contrary, “[Britney] is in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well.”
Though not performing, Spears is still quite involved in the awards show, having appeared in a number of promos along with LL Cool J, Fall Out Boy, and host Russell Brand. She has also garnered two nods for the ceremony: Best Female and Best Pop Video, both for her song “Piece of Me”. Be on the look-out to see if the former MMC starlet will regain her thrown after what seemed like a hostile takeover by K-Fed and a pair of hair clippers. We’ll all be watching.
