In what will be one of the most interesting hook-ups in music history, it has been revealed that guitar god and legend, Jimmy Page, will team up with England’s answer to Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, to deliver a “Whole Lotta Love” at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
Sources at Starpulse.com got a hold of a comment made on British session bassist Guy Pratt’s blog, in which the musician stated, “You may also be interested to know that when Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis perform ‘Whole Lotta Love’ at the end of the Olympics, that's me playing bass on it.” Some people can’t keep their excitement—and secrets—to themselves.
This is big news for fans of the epic, life altering opening ceremonies (can we say all the nations of the free world?) who were all a quiver to see how China could even attempt to meet the hyper indulgent events of the opening, let alone top it. Personally, I have a great deal of skepticism. Being an obligatory fan of Led Zeppelin and being completely unimpressed with Leona Lewis, this is one that I’ll have to watch to make sure a classic of epic proportions such as “Whole Lotta Love” doesn’t fall prey to the death traps that odd collaborations tend to be. (Can we say Beyoncé trying to outshine Prince on his performance at the Grammy’s?) All I can say is keep her in line, Jimmy. Keep her in line.
