According to Pitchfork, Liz Phair’s highly acclaimed, yet still underrated, Exile In Guyville will get a spiffy new release, thanks in large part to the efforts of a certain creepy-voiced crooner. The 1993 LP was a critical darling and favorite of free-thinking college aged females but never really exploded outside its niche demographics. Maybe this reissue will change that. In other news, Matthews has also signed Phair to his record label to record and distribute her new album (tentatively due this Fall). I’m sorry, Dave. I apologize for some of the hatred I’ve spewed. If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods, I’ll pay for the pizza. |
