Not ready to let a little thing like death stop him from collecting dollar bills, Elvis headed Forbes’ 2007 list of deceased money making celebrities. The King brought in an estimated forty-nine million dollars. That’s a whole lot of fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. John Lennon came in second at an equally obscene forty-four million.
According to Music-News, Charles Schultz, George Harrison, and Albert Einstein rounded out the top five. The staggering thing is that none of these performers had all of their possessions auctioned off or houses sold. There is still that much interest in their work.
Here’s the entire list:
1. Elvis Presley - $49 million
2. John Lennon - $44 million
3. Charles M. Schulz - $35 million
4. George Harrison - $22 million
5. Albert Einstein - $18 million
6. Andy Warhol - $15 million
7. Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) - $13 million
8. Tupac Shakur - $9 million
9. Marilyn Monroe - $7 million
10. Steve McQueen - $6 million
11. James Brown - $5 million
