It seems one of the most popular music festivals in the world, Glastonbury, is already getting people pumped and ready for next year’s show. NME.com reports that the folks at Glasto will be releasing 100,000 tickets for the June 2009 show starting in October. The lucky lot of mud diving, hell raising bandits will be able to reserve their respective spots at the head of mosh for a deposit of 50 quid (that’s about 100 USD) and pay the remaining debt 1 April 2009. (Either that or face the demons of the underground, giving them their souls, a lifetime of servitude, and a 10 quid service charge.)
Michael Eavis, organiser of the historical festival, told BBC news that the change in ticket sales policy was due to a great deal of confusion regarding the ticket transactions of this past year’s show. Because of his confidence in the show’s success, however, he’s sure demand for these tickets will be through the roof: “Everywhere I go people say, 'Oh we should've been there and we're so fed up about it', because it was so good.”
Along with a new policy comes a new (and higher) price. The tickets are running for an astounding 160 quid (about 320 USD), including administration fee because the Glasto superpowers failed to turn the sizeable profit that they had expected. To boot, the price is going to be even higher in next year: “We couldn't cover the costs at that price,” Eavis said. “It wasn't a loss but it wasn't as good as it should've been.” Should’ve thought of that before you switched your wind turbines with Diesle fuel run generators for the main stage.
