Gnarls Barkley Rebounds With New Disc

I remember when, I remember, I remember when Gnarls Barkley got huge out of nowhere. One night they were completely unknown, and the next morning America awoke with a Gnarls Barkley obsession. Normally, in situations like that, I lash out and pretend to hate the cultural phenomenon; you know, so I can maintain my sad bastard elititism. But I couldn’t do it last year. Even my most elevated, better-than-though instincts sang along. It was just too much fun not to. Ha ha ha. Bless your soul.

According to MTV, the duo (and their outrageous costumes) are back for another go at pop glory. Their new disc, fittingly entitled The Odd Couple, will be released on April 8th. Its predecessor, St. Elsewhere, has already been certified platinum since its 2006 release. The LP is reportedly close to being finished, and one of its tracks, “Run”, was even leaked onto download services earlier this week. Here’s to hoping it rekindles the joyous spark the group started two years ago.
