Pearl Jam Hits Up The Studio

By Mack Rawden: 2009-02-07 00:49:57
Pearl Jam Hits Up The Studio Pearl Jam is a lot like AC/DC. They’re revered by some, enjoyed by most, and vehemently disliked by others. At this point in their career, they’ve put out enough material in roughly the same basic format (heavy guitar/ inaudible, cryptic lyrics) that you probably know already whether you’ll purchase this compact disc. Still, I’ll report on it, pretending the Pearl Jam fans haven’t already heard about the new disc months ago and falsely assuming the rest will actually care.

According to Billboard, the group is set to make its first disc outside of Seattle in twelve years. The still untitled disc is little more than random riffs and a few lyrics at this point, but the addition of famed producer Brendan O’Brien (who also worked on the new AC/DC album) should help the overall quality.

Speaking about the newish producer who worked with the group on Yield, bassist Jeff Ament said, "He brings a brutally honest approach to what he thinks is working and what isn't, and it really moves things along. We don't get waded down with ideas that maybe aren't even that good. He's one of the few people outside of the band that we trust with our music, and we're really, really looking forward to making this record."

Here’s to hoping the new CD, which should drop sometime in late 2009, will shine with the same brilliance as Ten.
