Iggy And The Stooges have been ripped off and are asking for the public’s help. In a story which has repeatedly plagued groups from the lowliest garage bands playing various juke joints, shitholes, and dumps, to mega-bands like Led Zeppelin playing no less than Madison Square Garden, Iggy And the Stooges are the most recent band to be ripped off on the road.
In this instance, the reunited band had their equipment stolen from a rented truck parked outside the band’s hotel, the Embassy Suites, following a show last night in Montreal. According to published reports, the vehicle was a rented Penske 15 foot yellow truck baring U.S. (Michigan) license plate number AC46493.
The theft occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 A.M., and the bandits made off with the truck and all of the band’s equipment (including Mike Watt’s 1963 Red Gibson EB-3). With three shows left on the Stooges tour, the band plans to use rented equipment for the remaining gigs.
In the meantime, the Stooges are asking for fans help in locating the stolen gear. They have set up a website listing all of the stolen equipment, (along with serial numbers in most cases). You can also view pictures there. The Stooges are also urging anyone with any information to contact Eric Fischer at nycentral13@gmail.com.
