The blonde star of “Newlyweds” has another disappointment to add to her ever-growing checklist. Not only did she divorce Nick Lachey and receive critical slams for her attempts at acting—her album A Public Affair debuted in 5th place, selling around 9100 units less than Bob Dylan. What do you do with all this rage? Naturally, you fire your publicist.E!Online reports that Simpson’s publicist Rob Shuter has gotten the axe, but supposedly not because her album is flopping like a fish on the carpet. The reason he got the boot is because he helped to cause a media frenzy around her so-called serious relationship with John Mayer, which was blown completely out of proportion. A source told Radar magazine that the overblown story was "100 percent Shuter. He broke all the rules of the game. He's a pathological liar. I wonder how much Jessica even knew what he was up to." A cover story in People magazine hit newsstands on August. 31, declaring Simpson’s love for the shaggy-haired singer. Soon after, US Weekly pronounced the singer got “Dumped!” Shuter is being accused of putting a spin on the stories, rather than trying to protect her image. Mayer, on the other hand, is annoyed by the whole ordeal and is distancing himself from their fleeting fling. He’s tired of being used as a headline-grabbing puppet. "It's very clear to John who was pushing this story," a source close to the singer said. Jessica Simpson? Desperate for media attention? Get out of town.
