For a while there, it seemed like Kelly Clarkson’s third album, My December, would never hit stores. Her tumultuous relationship with Sony BMG head Clive Davis has been widely documented (she told Elle magazine that he offered her $10 million to scrap five songs in favor of more likely hits; she declined) and the release date has jumped around a handful of times. The official date is now June 26, but Clarkson has had enough of this nonsense.
According to Digital Spy, Clarkson has split with her management company, The Firm, and is going to head to greener pastures. She had a lot more creative control on My December than her previous two albums (she wrote or co-wrote every song on it), which scared the executive bigwigs into thinking it would be a flop and they wouldn’t be able to fully capitalize on the American Idol winner. If the success thus far of scorned single “Never Again” is any indication, they are going to have some crow to eat.
A representative for The Firm told People: "Kelly Clarkson is an enormously talented artist. We are pleased to have served as her managers during her well-deserved rise to stardom and are proud of the role we played in backing her creative choices. We believed in Kelly from the day we met her and believe in her now. We have only the best wishes and hopes for her in the future."
To which she countered: “I am blessed to work with so many talented people. We've accomplished some amazing things together. I wish them all the best.”
It all sounds so cordial, so polite, so amicable. But we all know it’s hooey. Cheers to Clarkson for grabbing control of her career and realizing that she deserves better. Wherever she goes, her fans, no doubt, will follow.

Talk about patience! I don't believe I would have had that much at her age. Anyone who has heard My December will know that the public, if they have any taste at all, will support this album at registers all over the country. She takes risks but the risks are built on honesty.......her songs come straight from her heart and her real world. Too bad for her record label if it was a difficult two years....that is reflected in the story her songs tell as it should be. Great lyrics and notes.
