Lady GaGa is unstoppable right now, and it's unclear what this means for the state of the world. "Just Dance" is the number one song in the country yet again, and while we sleep peacefully knowing that it'll soon be dethroned, the dastardly pop sorceress has another hit brewing in her cauldron.
This week "Poker Face" jumps twenty-four spots on Billboard's Hot 100, from 72 to 48. This may not seem very impressive at first glance, but keep in mind that GaGa-mania has just begun to sweep the nation. "Face" has only been on the charts for five weeks, and considering the slow rise of "Dance"... it's bound to advance towards the top of the charts in the next couple of weeks.
The delay in which these songs made their progress is most surprising. "Just Dance" was released as a single in April 2008, with "Poker Face" following in September. The gay community immediately latched onto GaGa's schtick and campy glam image, but the general public seems to be catching on. Unfortunately. If you're tired of Lady GaGa already, don't delude yourself that she'll be disappearing any time soon.
