Letter To Trey Anastasio: Give Us Phish!

Oh, Trey Anastasio, why do you toy with us? Why do you give interviews to Rolling Stone that lead to headlines on Rollingstone.com like “Trey Anastasio Hints at Phish Reunion”? All we ever did was love your band, all your bands, but Phish held that special place in our heart, right next to the Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead. True, in Phish’s absence, we have recently listened to My Morning Jacket’s Okonokos more than A Live One, but only to ease the heart, besides MMJ are fucking awesome and you know it.

But, please, go easy on us, don’t say things you don’t mean, we’re not strong enough. Don’t tell Rolling Stone: “When Phish broke up, I made some comment about how I’m not gonna go around playing ‘You Enjoy Myself’ for the rest of my life. And it’s so funny because Fish and Mike and Page have been talking to each other a lot lately and now — it’s not that I can’t believe that I said that, but its symbolic of how much I lost my mind or how much I lost my bearings or something. Because at this point in time I would give my left nut to play that song five times in a row every day until I die. I certainly thought about that while I was in jail.”
