Love Gives Ideal Cast For Cobain Biopic

The almost decades-in-development biopic on the life of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain seems to finally be moving forward, and executive producer/ former Mrs. Cobain Courtney Love has revealed who she’d like to see portray both her and her late husband: Ryan Gosling and Scarlett Johansson. Amusingly, upon first glance at the The Mirror’s exclusive, I thought Courtney wanted Scarlett Johansson to play Kurt. He did have a delicate, almost feminine beauty about him, but I must say Ryan Gosling is a better choice.

The casting news broke late yesterday after a source, described as a close friend of Love’s, told the Mirror, “She wants the best actors to portray them - she will be on set all the time giving Scarlett and Ryan advice on what it was like being one part of the most notorious couples since Sid and Nancy. It will be explosive." Does this quote worry anyone else? Sure, it’s nice to have the inspirations on the payroll for the occasional true-life question, but Courtney Love was a fucking cancerous trainwreck. How’s the director supposed to show this while she sits a few feet off screen? After all, Nancy Spungen didn’t micro-manage Sid And Nancy; though, that may have had more to do with her being dead than a longing for objective storytelling.
